My Story

Hello, everyone! I'm so happy to have you here with me. Feel free to explore every part of this site. But before you start, I wanted to share with you my journey from an ESL individual to now an English teacher/tutor (what?!?!?). Read on to find out more.

Growing up: I was born in Cambodia. I lived there for 9 years and had to move to the Bronx at age 9 in 2003. I knew very little English when I came to the state. I was placed in 3rd grade instead of 5th due to poor English. As you can guess, I am usually the oldest among my classmates. The first year at P.S. 33 Timothy Dwight Elementary School was brutal. I remember crying every day from not knowing how to complete the homework. It wasn't until the second year that I started to speak more English. In 2006, my family decided to move to California. They couldn't bear the freezing cold winter and the icy snow that came with its beauty and awe. Between 2006- 2019, I bounced a lot. From Long Beach to Los Angeles, Northern California, and I am currently based in Texas.
